Born on September 9, 1961, in Okara, Punjab, Iqbal comes from a family of intellectuals, with his father, Zafar Iqbal, being a renowned poet and columnist. Iqbal’s educational background includes a master’s degree from Government College University, Lahore, and a diploma in History of Mass Communications from San Jose State University, California. He began his career as a reporter in 1986 and later held various positions in the private sector and as a media advisor to the Chief Minister of Punjab from 1994 to 1995. Iqbal’s claim to fame came with his satirical news programs, including “Hasb-e-Haal” on Dunya News, “Khabarnaak” on Geo News, “Khabardaar” on Express News, and “Khabarzar” on Aap News. His shows are known for their witty humor, political commentary, and parody of Pakistani politicians and public figures. In 2018, Iqbal launched his own TV channel, Aap News, but left it in 2020 to join Neo News.
