Karakoram is a Pakistani alternative rock band that was formed in Lahore, Punjab in 2017. The band consists of Sherry Khattak as the lead vocalist and guitarist, Omair Farooq as the bassist, Bilawal Lahooti as the drummer, and Zain Peerzada and Annan Noukhez as guitarists. They gained prominence with the release of the single “Yeh Dunya” on season 14 of Coke Studio Pakistan, collaborating with rappers Talha Anjum and Faris Shafi.
In April 2020, Karakoram released their first extended play, “Ibtida,” which featured four tracks. This was followed by their debut album, “Ailaan-e-Jang,” in February 2021, which included nine tracks. The album was mixed and produced by Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan and received praise for its fusion of various musical elements.
The band’s musical style incorporates elements of alternative rock, hard rock, heavy metal, neo-prog, nu metal, and alternative metal. They draw influences from bands like Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, Porcupine Tree, Bring Me the Horizon, as well as Pakistani bands such as Entity Paradigm and Call.
In addition to their music releases, Karakoram has collaborated with other artists and contributed to projects like the animated comic series Team Muhafiz. They continue to release new singles, with notable collaborations with artists like Hasan Raheem and guitarist Faraz Anwar.
