Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, known by his initials HSY, is a prominent Pakistani fashion designer and television host. Born on October 26, 1976, to a politically active Arain family, his father, Mian Hamid Yasin, served as a chief whip in the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto government. Yasin’s parents separated when he was young, leading his mother to relocate to the United States. He received his early education in New York, USA, and later graduated as the salutatorian of the Pakistan School of Fashion Design in 2000.
Yasin is associated with the La Chambre Syndicale De La Couture Parisienne in France and holds an honors degree in couture. He is actively involved in the fashion industry and hosts a popular talk show called “Tonite with HSY” on Hum Sitaray.
His career began in 1994 as a fashion choreographer, and he has since worked on various shows in Pakistan and internationally, including cities like Dubai, London, New York City, and Toronto. In 2000, Yasin launched his own fashion label, HSY, initially focusing on bridal and formal wear couture. Over the years, HSY has become one of Pakistan’s most renowned fashion brands, with six stores worldwide, including one in Dubai and the flagship store in Lahore.
Recognized for his contributions to the fashion industry, Yasin was featured on the cover of Diva Magazine’s “Most Powerful People” issue in 2003 and was named one of their “Faces of the Year.” Additionally, in 2007, he expanded his brand by introducing a jewelry line under the HSY label.
HSY was brought up only by his mother. His father was the youngest MNA in Benazir Bhutto’s time. His parents got divorced and they shifted from Pakistan to Dubai initially. Hassan has one sister Afshan who is four years older than him. After living for a few years in Dubai the family had to shift to the USA. Hassan’s mother worked several jobs to bring him up and she is the one who instilled in him that hard work is not something that makes you lesser, it actually makes you greater than others.
