The Unfortunate Side Of Media Which Only Focuses On Ugly Things

Today we will talk about how media poses things to the world. As we all know what you see on TV is not 100 percent correct there is always something that the press avoids telling people due to some other reasons or restrictions set by government authorities. The media industry is making things worse for the consumers who consume media content. There was a time when social media people used to spread the truth but after TV channels and news agencies started their channels and pages on social media, they are using them also to portray things according to their agendas which is the misfortune of the nation.

Recently religious scholar Zakir Naik paid a visit to Pakistan, he was a state guest which means the state will be responsible for entertaining his guests. However, there were some controversies made upon his statements and mismanagement of hosts who asked him to attend charity events. The way the media handles is condemnable. The media is only focused on counting mistakes Mr Zakir will make and then the media will start a new debate or show for rating purposes. Just like a few days ago, Zakir Naik gave an answer to a host who asked him about female news anchors. So Zakir’s answer was obvious, indirectly he said that females should not be on television to read news and this become a hot topic on every TV channel. People like Iqrarulhassan conduct their proper full-hour programs to discuss what Dr Zakir said about women on TV news channels.

Then there was another controversy also related to even Dr Zakir going to distribute prices among girls but as they were a little younger Dr avoided the scene and it became an unpleasant moment so the media got its target and discussed this which was a minor gesture. Nothing big. Media people asked him to share his verdict on income generated by YouTube so his answer was we all know. Then media started another topic. My question to the media is why they don’t ask Zakir Sahab to comment on injustice, inequality, law and order’s worst situation, and corruption. The media only focuses on asking things related to women so the answers will create tunami in tea cups.

There should be fine journalism that sheds light on things like poverty, unemployment, the situation in hospitals, and other things due to which this country is suffering or its poor people suffer the most. On the contrary, it seems like the only object of media is to generate revenue from ads and social media platforms. Their main is to be always in the limelight. Pakistan is already on the verge of bankruptcy, the IMF loans are a heavy burden on people. But the media forgets these issues and gives time to such topics which will never end until judgment day. Media is 4th biggest tool for the country after establishment, army, and auditory. They should be trained to discuss sensitive matters on national television. They should portray the positive side of the country to grab the attention of foreign tourists and visitors. Their efforts can help bring investors back to the country.
